They really upped their game when it came to lyrics on this album.

They definitely did.
I'd love to see what they could come up with, if they did a concept album like The Antlers: Hospice.

you were far too fucked to drive were the words that you imparted

I had to bump this up. I sat down with the tracks I wasn't too hyped about and realized that they are beautiful in their own way.
Lyrically, this is their strongest album yet, easily and it's the little things that matter.

I've arrived at the opinion that this album is perfect.

I dunno the review's still at a 4 but I might change it if I get around to it to a 4.5. The 5 element of it is just something that's connected with me, though, I don't wholly know WHAT but this album just fucks with my head and I have a special relationship with it. I recommend paying close attention to the lyrics in the closer ('Coda:...'

Believe me, I have. Actually, the song that made me bump it up was the lyrics of Who Fell Asleep In.

Coda: gets me every single time. There's just such a perfect balance on this record between things that matter and things that don't.

In Media Res is the big one for me. So amazing.

A thousand years in perfect symmetry

I can't believe I used to hate this band. Man, I fucked up. with This, high violet, the wild hunt, and
the monitor, 2010 is easily the best year musically for me in well, ever.
|
| |
I'm stuck between wanting to hate this band and finding their sound intriguing.
|
| |
I didn't know I rated this
|
| |
if you're on the fence with this you'd hate the fuck out of their old stuff. just listen to Straight In at 101 and The Sea is a Good Place to Think About the Future until you get it and then delve outward and finish the rest of the album
