Nows as good a time as any to finally listen to this thing
|

Yeah you should, it's mostly really solid. If I could condense it to just 20 songs it'd be a hard 5 for me

"On a song by song basis this isn't their best, but the feeling of going through it, and the spectrum it captures (even with the less interesting songs) is unbelievable."

Everyone should listen to this at least one time in their life.
But probably not all at once unless you don't actually have a life to live.

This band have defeated me - one of the only indie institutions/super highly regarded song writers I haven't enjoyed a song beyond 'it's quite good' after trying approx ten different albums.
Some of which are 30+ songs long.
The ultimate 3 out of 5 rated discog for me :/
|
| |
don't understand that at all. there are more than a couple of flat out brilliant songs here

People send me off with their favourite individual track recs...I listen...3 out of 5
I still can't remember the dude's voice after ten albums - has the most inconsequential vocal delivery I've ever heard

Ok, listening now he sounds 50% Jens Lekman and 50% Ian Curtis...but maybe the least inspiring qualities of both
Listening to the title track now and yeah, 2.5-3 all the way.
I like non singers but this is just too grey n' beige a vocal delivery
