The Shrouded Divine owns this so far.

Still really good, its almost a tie for this album and last. This album feels more consistent, but it didn't have an amazing classic song like "The Black Lodge"

Listening... first song reminded me of In Flames for some reason, second one sounds like a weird mixtures of songs from Shrouded Divine. I'm liking it so far, but less than SD.

I'm really digging A Shade of Plague right now. Probably because it's not overlong, and it's catchy as hell.
The lead at the end of The Final Solution is brilliant.

okay, this album is prty cool considering im not a huge fan of the genre.
problems included, for me, overly long songs, drawn out riffs and simplistic guitar.
but it was all prty catchy.
might raise in rating for me in the future.

Okay actually listened to it and 3.6/5 average for this is ridiculous. Heck, I'm just about always
underrating albums and this seems at least a 4/5 to me.
Hmm, okay fine 3.5/5.

Up to third song. Iuno. First time I listened to TSD I wasn't THAT impressed but it heaps grew on me, I think this might be the same deal. It's pre' fuggin good at the moment though. Then again, I'm listening to this while fairly high so everythings just .. so good.. at the moment

Yeah I agree with most people here. This is a good album but has no special moments. Every song is listenable and great but nothing too special. I think off TSD, "In The Failing Hour" and "The Black Lodge" were special songs that I could listen to over and over but here there's nothing that would make me want to listen to a song over and over, just a few times then let it go.

I think they've lost a bit of the dynamics they had in the previous album, not completely, but there isn't anything along the lines of that clever clean/death metal juxtapose of vocals in By Others Considered. Progressive sections feel more like quick interludes unlike TSD.
On the other hand they've gained some coherent complexity. Guess it depends on which element you value the most. I still think it's a good album, just for different reasons.

Mantra (In Vain's new album) destroys this if any of you are wondering.

I'll give it a 3 for now, as I just joined Sputnik and have been overwhelmed with finding new and new-to-me bands in the past few weeks.
While the first listen didn't chase me away, nothing grabbed me entirely. Worth at least a couple listens.

Album is quite good, but sort of lacking, kind of hollow. Also wish it would have an epic type song like The Falling Hour or The Black Lodge.
Debris is the best song here. Shrouded Divine is noticeably better.

Once again, there isn't much difference between this and Shrouded Divine. Their debut didn't have much staying power to last into two albums, hence why you all think this is weaker.

The filler riffs (the chugga-chugga-chug) definitely make this vastly different from their first album.
