YES. If the gun-to-the-head-what's-your-favourite-album-moment comes, I think I'll least regret picking this.

Listening to this one for the first time back when it was released after binging on Mandylion and Nighttime Birds and being surprised was so amazing. Also saw them supporting this one and it was pure magic. Such a special album.

So glad it gets at least some love here.
Manosg or Dewi, do you perhaps know of something else that sounds like this? I've looked for long, but it never really hits like this does. So airy, slightly melancholic and above all very relaxed and slow. Would appreciate it a lot!

Oh man, not easy to rec something like this one. Out of the top of my head, In The Woods... - Three Times Seven On A Pilgrimage, The 3rd and the Mortal - In This Room, Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun, Anathema - Judgement, Nosound -Afterthoughts, Autumn's Grey Solace - Within the Depths of a Darkened Forest, even Therion - Vovin (symphonic/classical), Emancipator - Soon It Will Be Cold Enough (trip-hop) or Renaissance - Scheherazade and Other Stories (prog) can do the trick.

Thanks man! I know a few of those and they do indeed sound somewhat similar. Will check the others though.
Such an original sound they had going on during the Anneke-years (and even a little after that).
Did you hear Habitants yet? A project by The Gathering guitarist René Rutten. Did not enjoy the singer too much but the music was quite nice.

Wow had no idea that Rene had released a new album, his ability to create emotional music is so underrated. Will definitely check the new album asap

Like manosg said, your best bet is Anathema's songs with Lee Douglas on vocals. "A Natural Disaster" comes to mind. Also "Endless Ways" from their last album.
There is a wider scope if you look for bands that sound like their Mandylion era, but still, Anneke is one and only my friend. Her solo stuff and her feature in last year's Daniel Cavanagh (from Anathema) solo album are also worth checking.

Thanks Dewi, will check. Appreciated! Love Anneke's solo stuff, thank god she's still doing whatever she likes and releasing music.
It's so hard to find something similar to this, despite it being so good. Truly an underrated gem.

Seems boring compared to if_then_else
Even if you remove few filler songs, there is still no equivalent to "Analog Park" or "Shot to Pieces"

Disagree hard, obv.
This is definitely less immediate or extrovert than if_then_else, but to me it's so much better. The brooding growers on this are damn near perfect to me, whereas if_then_else (whilst still superb) is somewhat more generic.

finally gonna check out this band, guess I'll start here

Great idea man. This is amazing. So is Souvenirs, that one might be a bit more accessible. But this is their best if you ask me.

Absolutely, they've only released two poor albums. Been also jamming Habitants - One Self lately and it's really nice as well. Rene is the man.

Yeah Habitants was awesome
