So I occasionally enjoy some of this group's music, but it is pretty obvious they have ripped off a lot from other bands. For example, compare the passage of "Not The American Average" beginning @ 1:28 to the intro of Attack Attack!'s "What Happens If We Can't Check My Myspace When We Get There?" They're virtually identical.

They didn't rip it, generic metalcore riffs in Drop D (key of D) are incredibly easy to write and are usually based around D chugging and the 5th, 7th, 8th, and 10th frets on the A string. A lot of times they end up sounding similar. e.g. Unholy Confessions

Oh yeah, I definitely agree that many metalcore riffs sound similar because of a lack of originality, but I feel as though the similarity in this case is too significant to be accidental. But maybe you're right.
