Undisclosed Desires is like a Fedde le Grande song. shit, but good basis for a rehash

I still wouldn't call them mainstream in Canada/US. I just hope they keep some of their music sacred, because it's kind of lame when everyone only knows the band for their biggest radio hits, because often those aren't their best songs.

They were pretty popular before they were on the Twilight soundtrack, I think it's safe to say they're mainstream in North America now.

Well, yeah, that one was shitty, because there are people who just like that song because it's on twilight and before that they didn't know who the hell Muse was...I have some friends who had this experience unfortunately haha. But just because they are pretty popular dosen't necessarily mean they are totally mainstream. I mean, I've seen like one of their music videos on Much, which was Starlight and have heard Knights of Cydonia on popular radio maybe twice.

But, recently given the Twilight thing and now the VMA's, I think it's possible that they could be heading in that direction, and I've heard they could be touring with U2? Which would be retarded, because U2 are just ridiculously over rated.

They are touring with U2.

Who are a far better band, for the record.

If nothing else, Bellamy >>>>>>>>>> The Edge

I'm a fan of both bands.

Are you fucking shitting me? Without The Edge, there would be no Matt Bellamy - the impact that man has had on guitar playing in rock music is undeniable.

I, too, am a fan of both bands.

Dave, you should read 'I was Bono's Doppelganger' by Neil McCormick, it's pretty much the best book ever written by U2, ever.

The latter is true but I don't hear much Edge influence so....

It's basically a skill vs. influence thing so there's no right or wrong I guess.

Open for discussion: do you guys think this record will make or break Muse in terms of becoming a bigger act in the States?

Absolution made them a big act here. All of their shows sell out before they arrive at the venues. MTV Mainstream isn't a representation of our actual mainstream, it's a children's channel, it plays what the kids want to hear because the kids watch t.v. all day. I'm not saying thats a good thing but its the way it is right now. Muse have been rather huge in the states for a while - they sold out two Giants Stadium shows with U2 and mostly everybody I know is pissed, and not because they can't see the latter.

Never implied MTV was the be all and end all. I know Muse have had some minor hits into the mainstream with stuff like Guitar Hero and Twilight, but I've never perceived them as the stadium-filling band that they are in the UK and in Australia.

As for the Giants shows, that's U2. U2 can sell out anywhere in the world, pretty much.

Muse are that band that get no airplay in America but everyone knows them, like Radiohead. Nobody listens to the radio anymore anyway.

Sure, talk radio. But if you want to make it in the American music business you'd better have connections to one of the major labels, or be the second coming of Led Zeppelin.
