lmao it took me a while to get into autechre, i hated them at first
|
| |
i wont say i hated them at first but it certainly took me a whole to realize their brilliance.
it must have been a full two years between my first time hearing tri repetae and deciding they were my favorite music act.

If you love early 90s idm then this is easily one of the best
This. Which is why I really dig it. Sometimes I forget it's even ae cuz it's very different from most of their stuff, and has much more in common with the idm scene at the time. Seriously, Eggshell and Bike are 2 of my favorite idm cuts

i mean yeah it sounds like early IDM but honestly if you listen to the detroit sound of the time its way more indebted to them as a source of inspiration. in fact i think all of the early warp guys were.
this album is basically a detroit techno record with the beginnings of that Ae flavor

if you compare this to the rest of autechre's catalogue its like a 3.5 but if you just consider it AI warpcore ambient techno its like a 4.5.
all about context.

I prefer Autechre before they found their sound.
In other words I prefer this to other Autechre albums.

did they ever really find their sound?
|
| |
id say they found their muse and have been chasing an idea very successfully
but their brilliance is they never really ended up anywhere static.
