Seriously, it's gonna be great to see Messi vs Ronaldo when Barca & Real match up this coming season. I need to spread my English Premier League fantasy league dominance to La Liga!

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have the type of bitches he gets. But let's be serious: he's been stagnating for the last two seasons. Ever since he chose the red carpet over the green carpet, he turned into a shit player. Right now, Messi plays circles around him.

Plus, he annoys the heck out of me.

Ronaldo is easily one of THE most annoying players in professional football. He's got skills, but i dont think he's anything much of a team player.

I'd love a dollar for every time I hear this. The fact of the matter is that without Ronaldo, Man Utd wouldn't have won the last few titles. Even last season when he was well below his best, not a team player, etc, etc, etc... I believe he was still the guy that got them over the line when all was said & done.



Let's be honest, football is a sport where one team can dominate for 90% of the game, but 1 or 2 moments of brilliance can mean the result goes in completely the opposite direction. Ronaldo is the best player in the world at making such a thing occur. His strike rate from free kicks just outside the penalty box is phenomenal & will never be surpassed.

They would still have won last season's without him, seriously. Rooney and Vidic were the reason they won so many games, not Ronaldo. But much as I think he's probably the worst thing to ever happen to the game of football, you can't deny his class; I'm glad he's gone, though, he completely suffocated the English game while he was here. The press were all over him, he made people forget that cheated should be frowned upon and the whole scene just feels a lot more likeable now he's f**ked off.

And yeah, he is one of those players that can influence a game with one or two touches of brilliance; you can't underestimate the importance of that. But seriously, living in the UK and being a football fan for the past however many seasons, it's been honestly frustrating him just existing. I'm so so glad he's gone.

And all this RONALDOvMESSI stuff that keeps getting chatted about, it's hardly like they're ever going to come within touching distance of each other lol.

I knew you would add your 2 pounds worth Adam. I dunno, I don't think they would have got to the line last season without him. Sure, Vidic was probably Man Utd's best player for the season, but if you don't score goals, then you don't win games.



As for suffocating the game & the rest of it, that's tough for me to comment on. It's still going to be as interesting as ever when Barca play Real. The blue & red top I bought a couple of months back dictates who I will be cheering on.

Yay, Barca are easily my Spanish team too. And I think Ronaldo will do well in Spain; I'm just glad I'll have some measure of control over when I choose to watch or read about him.

To be honest, I hate choosing big teams to follow in any sport (Southampton should prove that), but there was something about Barca. Maybe it's Messi... Maybe it's just those colours. They look f'n cool. I still have no idea why more sports teams don't wear them.
