"an album has been mixed so that it's treble heavy"

what if what your listening to has a frequency spectrum tipped towards treble. this can throw off the balance in some music.

*notice how i wasnt talking about the music, but the production*

A good production can improve an album's awesomeness but it can't make the music better.

saying an album sounds better with the treble turned up is like saying it's a more consistent record with some tracks taken out

rate the album how they produced it and intended it to be heard or dont rate it at all

Redd (or Palace, w/e) you're just being stupid now. The right output device can make a drastic change in the way an album sounds. Granted, probably not more than a point or two in the rating, but still. The way you latched on to this quibble with the production, makes it look to me, like you just hate the album (for whatever reason) and are trying to make it seem like a legitimate reason.

That's my take on the situation, Ima go back to just observing the shitstorm from afar.

Emim: I disagree (but in a friendly way). You shouldn't have to manually alter the sound in anyway (adjust treble, change eq etc.), you should just be able to pop it in, press play and not worry about it. The fault is in the mixing process. Case in point: Original Death Magnetic vs. Guitar Hero Death Magnetic.

Yeah, I don't mean messing with EQ or anything (I don't mess with that stuff). I mean just a good pair of speakers or headphones.

It wouldn't drastically change it imo. Bass sure, but not much else.

Idk, I play most everything I get just through my laptop, and the difference can be pretty noticeable when I switch to headphones.

You mean through your comp speakers? There'll be a difference because then the music's directly in ya ear.
