It's a shame this band is surrounded by controversy, people are either saying "It's o.k but its not real death metal" or "This album is more death metal than their last effort but its still deathcore esque" or "Its tech but a lowsy effort for a technichal death metal band".



Being in to old technichal Death metal, Suffocation, Death, Nile etc, and the new bands of course, Anata, Psycroptic, Gorod etc I avoided JFAC for quite some time because of the hear say that surrounded this band. I recently came across a review of Ruination saying that JFAC had departed with their deathcore sound in favour of a more Death metal / tech death sound. Not hearing any of their early material i had an unbiased opinion the first time i listened to Ruination. I listened to it and instantly thought it was a truly awesome death metal album. I like the production of it, some will say its over done but i say its good too hear every section of the band clearly, think of Decapitated's - Organic Hallucinosis or Behemoth's Evangelion. I love the vocals, forget the style for a minute and think souly about the rhythm patterns and the notage and you got yourself a really good vocalist, the style is just a matter of taste but i like it. I like the fact that it is quite technichal but its not a guitar album so to speak and i like that the vocals are a big part of the sound but its not a vocal and drum album.



To sum up: sure, its not a Technichal Death Metal Album in the form of Necrophagist or The Faceless and sure, its not as Old School sounding as Vader or Grave but ill tell you what it is (I.M.O)... A well written death metal album with tech parts, alot of groove parts, shredding drumming, and a vocalist who has clearly been practicing his death metal vocal.

i don't see whats good about this band? this is as bad as metal gets and puts it to shame. guitars are completly boring, no layering of guitars, these guitarists have no song writing skill or solo's, the whole song sounded the same. that's 4:48 i'll never get back! oh yeah, i say them live, it made me want to walk out but thank god real bands were on the bill like in flames, megadeth. this band could be the worst metal band!
