Her voice is more unique and individual on the first few albums. This album is nice but she has become a bit Americanised on it with the production and the general sound.

It was a bigger production and sound, something several British artists tried from 1985 on to try and break the American market. And this was the album that made her name more in America, though she had already had worldwide fame from her earlier albums which were well received in other countries.

Production is one of the best things about this IMO.

The thing that threw me off at first was the 80s snare sound on some of the songs but I got over it pretty quickly.



The bigger sound when you compare this to The Kick Inside has alot to do with the time it was recorded imo. Stuff generally sounded alot more natural in the 70s which I usually prefer.
