The fuck is goin on in here

Friends has not aged well at all
The Big Bang Theory was just awful from the start ngl

Also regarding the album, no it’s not a huge departure from Jupiter or Tides of Tomorrow sonically. However the song structure are overall simplified in comparison and rely on hooks rather than atmosphere, with a few exceptions. I like this album but it’s not that hard to understand why an older fan wouldn’t like this even if they enjoyed Jupiter.

Friends and BBT are both utterly dire good lord

Its understandable that Jupiter fans wouldnt like this. But what I find dumb is the claims that this is a mainstream friendly album. Yes its got more pop hooks but like it still isnt a mainstream sound that they applied the pop hooks too.

I never saw a single episode of Friends and I honestly dont plan on changing that tbh.

Oh, c'mon, they aren't so bad.
Well, I can't really speak for Big Bang. I have only seen up to s6 and I haven't re watched any of it in quite some time, nor do I have the urge to.
I do re watch friends on occasion still. It may be a nostalgia thing. It is hard to imagine trying to watch it for the first time now compared to seeing it on TV in the 90s. Maybe I wouldn't like it as much. Hard to say for sure.

Friends and Frazier are entertaining and sometimes funny as fuck, but both def feel outdated.
Seinfeld and Southpark are the funniest shows of all time. I’ve always thought The Simpsons was a bit overrated. And it’s amazing to me that Seinfeld doesn’t really even feel outdated to this day. It’s timeless. Similar to The Twilight Zone in that regard.

Although i heard this album for the first time in 2018, it gives me massive nostalgia for the early 2000's
Though songs like Seafrost sound timeless

Joy Opposites, Beautiful Son, Seafrost and Youth Overrided are in my regular Cave In rotation, too bad some of the other tracks are kind of stale in comparision

Nah, it just is what it is. The band themselves aren't too fond of the record, save for some songs (two of them i mentioned)
|

I think it’s not the record itself so much that they look back on negatively as it was was experience they had working under a big corporate label and being part of the music “machine.” I know they do like at least some of the songs here
@sizeofanocean I made a playlist with some extended versions of tracks and b-sides if you’re interested

I can do without Beautiful Son lol. The guitar shimmers on the album are great but without em this would sound like a dramatic Foo Fighters.
that said Seafrost is timeless. Stained Silver, Inspire, Rubber and Glue, Youth Overrided, Lost in the Air, and Penny Racer are still solid after these years too.

Not that great but proves the versatility and genius of Brodsky
