This album is incredible. The production is perfect for modern black metal, it has superb atmosphere without sounding too slick and polished. The vocals are a huge improvement from Two Hunters and sound more powerful and further forward in the mix.

By your shoutoff it seems like you basically thought it was boring, which I can understand. Until I forced myself to listen to it more I thought the same thing, but then I just kept listening to try to understand all the hype. I guess it's just the fact that all the tremelos add a continuous supply of melodies throughout the whole of the album, making it appealing in a strange way. I'm hoping that this group will be more of a gateway band for me. Once I can understand them I might be album to understand Burzum or thelike.

I agree that this band is just a little bit overrated, but not this album. Burzum is great except for the most recent ambient albums he put out. It's going to be interesting to see what his next album will be like.
