I'll give you "less poppy", but I think 'Scars' is catchier. As for more heartfelt, I will copy & paste the lyrics from the previous page of comments:

I tear my heart open,

and sow myself shut.

And my weakness is,

that I care too much.

And these Scars remind us,

that the past is real.

I tear myself open,

just to feel.

Hey Marko, here's another sequence of lyrics from 'Scars':

I'm drunk and I'm feeling down

And I just wanna be alone

You shouldn't ever come around

Why don't you just go home?

ah well they were both great. the only song on here that would catch my interest on one of those albums is nights of love and perhaps state of emergency... so sad. i think i'll keep commenting on this album until the ends of time, wallowing over love lost. just kidding. but im pretty depressed.

the sad thing is papa roach legitimately believes this is their album of the decade.

korraeswai, I reckon that the more you keep thinking about this album, the more you will hate it. And that rating of 3 will be coming down quick smart!

And if Papa Roach think this is their best ever album, then I'd hate to hear what their next LP is going to sound like!

Quote Davey:

No disrespect meant to you MetalStyles. I just know some people who don't like 'Scars' simply because radio overplayed it. I really don't see it as much different from 'Forever'.

Non taken . It's just that I live in northern europe and it was hardly overplayed on the radio here. Sure it got some spins, but definitely not enough to become a menace or something. It's just that the song didn't really touch me emotionally like it should've had. It was good in the start, but after 3 or 4 listens I really got tired of it

Oh please, please tell me they are not serious. This is the only album by them that is a total failure. Even the criticised LoveHateTragedy had a bunch of very good songs on it. If that is true, then Papa Roach has seriously lost it.

Oh and Btw Davey and korraeswai, if you like Papa Roach then i would rec you guys to check out Nonpoint. Yes they are nu metal/alt.metal, but they are definitely at the top of the game. If you like Roach then the albums by Nonpoint titled "Recoil" and "Development" should be really good for you.

To be honest, 'Scars' never got overplayed down under either. But apparently it was in America & I hear that reason for not liking the song all the time.

I still don't know what to think about LoveHateTragedy. It's probably a 2.5 for me, but I haven't heard that album in so long and it never got many spins in the first place.

Thanks for the recommendation. I think I've heard some of their stuff (either through WWE or their small association with TRUSTCompany, who I like). I'll get to them eventually, although probably not for a few months. What would you say is their best; Recoil and/or Development?

Thanks, I checked them out and they sounded pretty good. Gotta take a closer look later though.

Ahh, Papa Roach memories. I was one of the few who loved Lovehatetragedy. And Scars was very overplayed but it didn't affect it too much for me

I think those who prefer Disturbed-like pseudo-metal almost preferred 'Lovehatetragedy' to 'Infest'. Hell, I don't mind Disturbed, but that album just didn't hit the spot for me. It relied on a few very good tracks, but there was a lot of filler.

But it just couldn't make up for all the angry little nu-metal lovers who personally disowned Mr. Dick once he stopped cutting his life into pieces

I'd say that their best albums are Statement and Recoil, Development was good also, but it had some filler on it too. The best starting point though would probably be Recoil since it is catchy, in your face and with good lyrics. Oh and the guitar tone is pretty heavy too. Statement features the rawer side of Nonpoint and may not be the best to start with (although that album is exactly what I started with lol).

i'm glad you liked them.

I personally thought that LoveHateTragedy had a bunch of good song on it.............and it also got a buch of filler, but I still think it was ok as an album.

Noted... & a good recommendation as I'd rather start with their most catchy & then work from there.

yup that is probably the wisest thing to do. They are supposed to release some new material this summer, and if they indeed do then I'll be the first to cover it haha. Great band, the only problem is that I have got everything by them and so are desperately looking towards the new album.

Haha... We are all in that situation with favorite bands at one point or another. I guess the thing to do is broaden your horizons and try to listen to some different stuff in the meantime.

that is what I am doing. It's just that every time I notice the name "Nonpoint" in my itunes library (and that happens a lot) then I really become sad that I don't have anything new to check out from them since I've listened to their other stuff times and times over. 2009 is thankfully such a busy year in music that I don't miss it that much anymore, but I still look forward to the new album with great anticipation.

tell me about it. Right now I'm looking forward to the above mentioned Nonpoint, the new Crossbreed is probably going to slay, Amorphis, Naildown, i'm a little bit curious of what the new Spineshank will sound like, but not overly excited for that. And I'm always looking for some new good death/melodeath releases.

Oh hell yeah Ross, I totally forgot the Monkeys (man, we're on some kind of animal roll, aren't we?) were releasing a new album this year. They actually played some of their new songs when they were down here in Jan/Feb, but it was all so low-key (they hardly did interviews, etc...) that they just seemed to pass by.

Metalstyles, it seems like your musical taste has a (dare I say it) more metal style than mine.
