Flak and Eggshell are so good. One of the best ambient electronic albums out there.

rules agreed. I like Dead Cities more than this though tbh

I love the natural, otherworldly atmosphere of this whereas Dead Cities has a darker, future-noir vibe and gets really weird in the second half, in a good way. Both are fantastic in their own ways but I slightly prefer this. Herd Killing and We Have Explosive also don't really fit with the rest of Dead Cities imo

Are you like Deviant where you turn your nose up at the phrase "electronica" for some reason?

its a meaningless phrase that did not need to exist
whats wrong with juts saying "electronic music"?
its not like electronica refers to a specific sub-niche, it's just as umbrella

I suppose you're right. One viewpoint of "electronic music" is that it could include any style of music primarily using instruments where their sounds are made using an electronic component, like an amplifier for an electric guitar and of course a synthesizer and any vocal effects or enhancements. In that sense, most pop and rock music, and plenty of hip hop and most all metal would be considered "electronic music," unless acoustic instruments are primarily being used. But that may be a very literal interpretation, and also more vague in the modern age where most everything being recorded is electronic in one way or another.

" But that may be a very literal interpretation"
yea dude ive never seen anyone interpret it that way yet (surprising given how many hipsters ive run into over the years) but if i ever did id say theres no doubt thats a grade a cunt right there

I don't like the term "electronica" because it just sounds silly & annoying; it's not the tag, it's personal, I guess. I do however agree with Talons' comment.
Also, "flak" is m/
