comparing blondie to taylor swift is like comparing the beatles to the jonas brothers

i am not fond of Blondie, but that's why i love music - everyone likes something different. It's refreshing to hear this in the spotlight because it is so consistent, it's not just a few singles and lots of filler. Yeah i'm overrating this and i will get crap about liking this - but this is just awesome. As for the country influence, that doesn't bother me because i live in Texas and I've built up quite the immunity to it.

you wont get crap...you'l just become one of the special few

lolol
a) this is pop.
b) this is not country. i have no problem with country, i like some country music, but anything country here is basically irrelevant to the overall aesthetic.
c) i almost never make this kind of assertion but people who deem this 'awful' have probably not even heard the record, just dislike Love Story and You Belong With Me because they're overplayed.
d) this rules.

if i were to review this i would give it a 3.5. fortunately, i'm not, and as such it stays as a 4.5. it's one of my mainstays and i fucking love it.

This is way to metal for me. She shreds like John Petrucci no doubt.

exactly...Blondie's superiority to Taylor Swift perfectly parallels the Beatles' superiority over the Jo Bros.
also ziroth and strikey: yeah the fact that this is pop is part of the problem. country just is what it is--very unimaginative. but with pop, you can get much more creative. yet Taylor doesn't.
i mean you have to at least agree that this is not very creative music.

I think Love Story and You Belong With Me are fairly creative.

well they're as creative as you could expect from a teenage girl, i suppose. but not much more. and those are easily the best songs.

Oh, I get it, you want a bit of electro and eclectic instrumentation just so she can say she's quirky and 'creative.'
Mayyybe she thinks acoustic guitars fit her sound best and sound more honest.

nope i don't want electric instrumentation or quirkyness. i want more creativity with just an acoustic guitar. seriously, it's possible to be extremely complex and creative with just an acoustic.
not that i really expect a girl her age to even aspire to that, let alone attain it. but that's why music from teenage girls is generally not that great.
|
| |
I think the "she's a teenager" explanation doesn't explain anything at all.

i don't understand Caleb...what's your point? she's a teenage girl: she's just strumming some nice, simple chord progressions and trying to write the most passionate lyrics she possibly can. instrumental creativity obviously isn't that high of a priority.
|
| |
Bingo. You just summed up why it's good right there.
