Yeah they're great albums. Eternity shares a lot of similarities with this one but their first two will surprise you.

I can only really get into death/doom if there's gothic metal elements like swallow the sun, otherwise it gets really repetitive and a bit of a slog to listen to

Theres some minor gothic elements on Serenades. Definitely my fave Anathema after Judgement and I dont find it repetitive at all.

Yeah that was just from one or two songs, I'm sure it's great just need to jam in full. Eternity sounded musically confused to me from what I heard. But my understanding is it was the bridge of musical shifts so it's understandable.
