Much much better then Use Your Illusion(s). G N R aren't some "experimental" band that can pull it
off, they are a band that does best when making closer to just straight forward punky-rock/metalish
tunes and this album is more in thet vein then the Illusion ones.
On a side note Axl still has a good voice, thats a plus

The problem with Chinese Democracy is that there are no "great" songs on it. The album itself is consistent and pleasant enough, but where are the anthems? Slag the Illusions all you want, but among the filler were the lean, mean, vicious rockers as well as lighters and fists in the air anthems. This is middle-of-the-road which for GNR is not a good thing.

I don't know why but this album really hooked me. First two tracks are awesome

Sitar Hero; How about "Better" for an anthem? Or "Street of Dreams'??
This album is hated by many because Axl is hated by many. Somehow Slash has turned out to be the good guy. But this good guy is merely a mediocre guitar player who played in an awesome band a long time ago. Axl is the real hero here, but taking ten years to produce this album just wasn't right. However, if he would have left out some of the fillers, this higly anticipated album could have been a classic IMO and Axl would've made himself legendary at the same time.

Better is my favourite song off here, and lyrically I feel it's some of Axl's best work, but I still don't think it's quite in GNR's top echelon. I dunno why but I never enjoyed Street of Dreams as much.

Rose should have renamed this effort Axl Grease and had Buckethead write all the guitar.

15 years is MORE than enough to get something like production right.

Anything that takes this long to make is sure to lose all emotional potency.
