I'm still trying to get into it, the lyrics to me just haven't been up to par with their later stuff.

"When you can STRUM THE GUITAAAAAR" for instance, catchy and fun, but doesn't match the brilliant metaphors on B,S

Yeah, the lyrics maybe aren't as strong. It's fun to hear them really playing with dynamics though. Plus Aaron's vocal performance is pretty great, crazy emotive.
