The Fall of Ideals was good but some tracks were generic.

I used to hate Of Love and Lunacy, but it kind of grew on me. Still don't love it, but I like it more than I used to.

Yeah one of my faves, i still bang it on every now and again just for that keyboard laden breakdown in White Walls. GAWD DAAAAMN

This wasn't horrible, and I still put it on every now and again. Just not much staying power, the drums and guitars are damn good though.

The only flaw i really find with the album is Phil's voice. His harsh vocals are ratty as fuck, and his cleans are awful on this. They sound subtly autotuned IMO

yeah this was incredibly disappointing for me; I got into ATR on This Darkened Heart and loved Fall of Ideals too -- the guitars on this aren't bad (if a little overproduced and generic) but Phil's vocals are downright annoying.

I actually liked the vocals though I get where your coming from sound heaps different to what they did before

I wouldn't say it sounds heaps diferent than their old stuff, it's just not as good. And the cover track wasn't needed.

Nah, it just needed to be a better song.

they took some steps foward and some steps back in this one.

+ oli can absolutely shred and his solos are becoming more melodic and amazing

+ and - the epic sound does good for them, but also takes away some of the brutality that was in the fall of ideals

- a lot of 2-3 minute songs. very little lasting appeal for such a great band.

I feel just like you do as far as the review, but it sounds like 3.5 to me. This album is anything but average. But it isn't the most memorable, I agree. I'm in love with the vocals, i swear. Well since i agree so much I'll skip a more detailed opinion.

Favorite song on album
Two Weeks (harmonizing is like magic to my ears)
