Great album... grows on ya... judas kiss is my personal favorite, riffs r solid, solo's sweet and chorus hitz u like a sledge, all nightmare long is awesome as is 'the day that never comes' reminds me of F2B n One, Ive always loved metallica's instrumentals and S&R is no exception, though i think Cyanide & UIII are inferior to rest of the tracks on the album but i guess those were aimed at the Load & Reload fans...
Kudos to metallica for jumpin bak on the thrash wagon and putting out a solid record at there ripe old ages.

I was critical of the album at first but it has grown on me every listen. I may listen to two or three songs often, than get into other songs. I haven't listened to the album from beginning to end yet (just cause I haven't found the time). anyways it's better than I expected and has realy grown on me. nice surprise.

This is an album I'm going to have to listen to 20 more times (I've already listened to it about 10 times and have drawn some premature conclusions). Yes, the drums sound copied & pasted a LOT. The mix is very compressed, like they expect us all to listen to this cd through a dolby 5 home entertainment system rather than a car or a regular stereo. Yeah.... right! Kirk- God he used to be ripping. But now he's on crutches I guess. The rhythms are thick & crunchy, that's a plus Oh Robert. How I wish they'd pump up your bass. They're not worthy !!! They're not worthy !!!

sounds like bs to me too.

the bass takes a back seat when rick rubin produces an album, but it sounds great regardless, sans the over compression.
just got this today, it's pretty good

Trust me - the only proper way to listen to this record how it should have sounded is to get the FLAC Guitar Hero 3 Mix of the record. None of the clipping and distortion, much fuller dynamics (lots of little subtleties that you can't hear on the Final Mix), and you can hear Rob's bass lines with no problem.

Playing this on GH is annoying...it makes the album version seem obsolete .But I love it all anyway. The bass line at the beginning of Cyanide really pumps me even though its just one note!
Edit:This is,however, they're best album in almost 20 years,in my opinion, their best since ...AJFA,and iroically the production was poor on that too, especially the lack of bass. But this is their most solid effort in a long while and I say "bravo" to this. This Message Edited On 10.25.08

Album is good but got boring too quickly for me.Kirk's best work since AJFA.On the other hand not a very good performance by Lars and Hetfield.Hetfield's too old to sing properly and Lars' drumming is just reckless and boring.

I think Kirk kinda sucks on this

Kirk has never had the most phenomenal solos but it definitely doesn't take away from the album like some people seem to imply.

I heard they only play five songs off of here for the tour. One of those better be All Nightmare Long.
One week until I see them woot.
