NOTHING WILL BE THE OUTCOOOOOOOME

Great album still, I didn’t really like it on release but eventually I came around after viewing it more as a post-hardcore album and now it’s probably one of my most-listened to

^ I think that’s why I hate it. It definitely feels more post hardcore, but I also love post hardcore. I think it’s that I don’t think it’s very good at being phxc lol

I love it, I think they captured the old-school aesthetic of the genre pretty well with a lot of off the wall guitar leads and raw production, and the heavier tracks are rippers. Not everyone’s thing I guess but it’s probably in the top 4 for me

this is the exact midpoint of my ranking i believe. id def take it over the last three and o god has never rlly been my thing
always thought it was rlly cool the way chino and cove are utilized here

My top 4 is the first 4 (and maybe Meridional being tied for 4th) but I do agree about the last 3 being their worst otherwise. Polar Similar had some ok moments and the last 2 are almost completely forgettable to me

If this was an EP of the first 5 songs, it'd be one of their best

I need to revisit the whole thing. Never really gave this or Redeemer a fair shot

Ru Paul would be so mad if she found out this existed.

Redeemer rules, agreed.
This is the album that I have listened to the least out of their discography. Going to jam it now and consider bumping my rating up; it has been a little while since I've jammed any Norma Jean (although I've listened to Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child a lot recently).

Murphy Was An Optimist is such a jam. I swear I've only causally tried to get into norma jean throughout the years and for some reason this is the album that just happened to stick lol
I think it rules though. 3.1 feels a bit low. it seems like it was divisive when it came out, but i guess time hasn't really been that much kinder to it

Well, this band has no bad albums really, even their least memorable one still has some cool jams
