tbh Hawks I think I was blinded by nostalgia a bit when I recommended this lol. I think some of their later stuff is actually more similar to Snow Strippers than this one.

its very weird seeing her in the news, completely forgot she existed as i did with a lot of the skins cast. some of them really made a career out of that show and loads just dissapeared into nothing

That Alice Practice scene in Skins is what got me into CC. Those first two skins series are still absolute classics for me. A lot of the cast were so talented, even the ones that disappeared into nothing really nailed the roles perfectly.

in hindsight it was one of those tv shows that featured such an insanely unrealistic image of teenage life, everyone (except for some of the blokes) was good looking and had a crazy crazy life, im sure id hate it if i watched it now



but it had a massive influence on me growing up cos it was one of the few semi accurate depictions of teenager culture in the uk at that time (man the nu-rave fashion was all over that show)

the writing in the seconds series is kinda ehh at times, but i think the first series is still really strong overall.



I got into it around 2010 or so and it blew me away. I was young and living a crazy life at the time so it really hit the right spot for me. Plus NOTHING was shown like this in the states, I mean they even tried to do a bastardized U.S. version of the show which made a lot of changes & toned things down and it was still deemed "too controversial" and canceled pretty fast.



In hindsight it probably wasn't the most realistic, but still went so much further than most shows were willing to go at the time.

oh damn i assumed you were from the uk if youd seen it tbh, didnt imagine it would have much crossover appeal



in terms of realism, it really nailed some aspects. the fashion was very accurate. the music was accurate. the drug use. language



the unrealistic bit was obviously having a group of friends where every single person has a 'story of the week' ailment like an eating disorder, hidden sexuality, family drama, drug issues etc. but you know thats just tv, wouldnt be interesting if they all had perfect lives

don’t know why I’m here but I dug Skins back in the day yeah, although I would probably not now (2)

perhaps the reverse of this album / band (?), which I remember being nonplussed by at the time
