How are they selling out if they're playing the music they want to play?

I definitely agree that MTV sucks, it only plays pop mainstream crap, though that hasnt changed my view on Avenged Sevenfold one bit. I recognize this album for what it is in itself.

I hope to god you don't mean what you said about them selling out, MTV playing their record has nothing to do with that.

You can sellout, Kiss is a great example, they are only in the music buissness for the chicks and the money. A7X however did not.

"The previous album was considered by many a thousand times better, it's got very different vocals and (the solos blend better, but there are less of them), and still great drumming from The Rev."

Quality is more important than quantity

the only god damn reason 2 listen 2 this ****ty album is cuz of the guitar otherwise its horrible they completely sold out...........thats wat i think..........sounding the seventh trumpet was the best

Oh Jesus, here we go. Ironically, we had a muse today all about how people like you don't know how to use the term sell-out. You fit most of the stereotypes, also. You're whiny, inarticulate, have horrible spelling and grammar, and you reference their older material as if the ability to name an album makes you an expert on the subject.

They didn't sell-out. I'm sorry to break it to you, but they didn't. You're only talking out of your ass. I know what I'm talking about, you don't. So don't bother arguing the point. You will lose. This Message Edited On 04.06.06

This band definetly didn't sell out. They changed their sound a little to better suit the vocalist. The only reason why the "hardcore" fans are calling them sell outs now is because a lot more people like their music. They wanted this band to be their own and it isn't anymore so their pissed. My view get over it, this is still a good album MIA being my favorite track.

Shadows is trying to learn to sing. He hired Axl Rose's voice coach.

The result: The vocals on this album

By the way, the image of the band shouldn't matter. But I'm not gonna get into that. We've already been through that. ;)

M. Shadows should learn to sing. The band should drop the look/image. Then, I might like them.

So you actually factor in the image of a band when deciding whether or not to buy their albums?

I don't know why people keep saying M Shadows sounds like Axl Rose. His voice has more of a Trent Reznor quality. This Message Edited On 04.07.06

He did hire Axl's voice coach though. At least that's what I've heard.

And Seize the Day's vocals bleed of Axl. Hell, the whole song sounds like a GnR ballad to me.

This is very true. Kirk Hammet took lessons with Joe Satriani, but the only similarity between those two is they use electric guitars and wah pedals. That's about it.

As I said, M Shadows sounds more like Trent Reznor than Axl Rose. This Message Edited On 04.07.06

Never did I say that Shadows sounds like Axl. I just said that he hired Axl's coach to try to learn to sing. And on one song he sounds a lot like Axl. You guys are making it seem like I called him Axl Rose Jr. or something...

And I'm failing to see the Shadows-Reznor connection.

I agree that there's a resemblance in Seize the Day between Shadows and Axl, except the ending.

ok...well...then barely any bands have sold out is what drunken viking is saying. green day, fall out boy, my chemical romance, the used, and system of a down write the music they want to write...and there all considered sellouts to most. but they write there music for themselves. so maybe your write...avenged hasnt sold out. neither has any of those five listed above then...thats my response...sorry it took so long too.

Thanks for understanding, it just pisses me off when people call anyone who changes their style sellouts.

I just want to say that I think Shadows' singing was actually better on WtF. I know nothing about the technicalities of vocals, but (to me, at least) his voice sounds better on "I Won't See You Tonight Pt. 1" than anywhere on City of Evil. That said, I do like his singing on CoE (aside from the "dramatic" singing; ie, the slow parts of "Bat Country"), I just think it was better on Waking the Fallen.

i think you were responding to me drunken viking... and yes. glad we agree. i hate it when people hate someone cause of there music change. i mean...i dont tend to like music changes for a band because im used to what they write...and i look to them (the band) to give me that exact style...its just like...uhhhhh. i still love there guitars and drums...and the voice kills me. its growing on me more and more...but there putting out there worse songs off the new record.

now i still think they are sellouts...and not because the change of music...but i definately respect that you dont think they are...and i think im as entitled to my opinion as you are.
