and their new one.

As much as I find Parachutes boring, I think Shiver is one of the best songs ever made.

I love their first 3 albums, it's Viva I don't like as much. They ditched the melancholy for light n fluffy.

I just prefer the melodies and melancholy of their first 3 albums but most here seem to dig Viva.

I think Viva is more interesting and unique but that's just me. It's also the first Coldplay album I've listened to in full, so that also might be why I like it so much.

The only fluffy song on viva imo is Viva la vida. which kinda blows in comparison to the rest of the album

Viva and Mylo are fantastic records and so are Parachutes and Rush of Blood but for different reasons. This is the butter that makes up the meat of the butter sandwich that is Coldplay's career to date.

I have never understood the hate for this album to be honest. These guys should have quit after this because everything after that is not really that good.

The lyrics are definitely part of what kills it for me, but also a lack of energy

"I have never understood the hate for this album to be honest. These guys should have quit after this because everything after that is not really that good."

Dude.... Viva La Fricken Vida

i feel like if the lyrics were good, i might be able to bump it up to a 3.5, definitely a 3.

do i need to persevere with viva la vida, or if i don't think it's good after a couple of listens, should i just move on to mylo?

I immediately thought Viva La Vida was good at the least, but it grew on me. I don't know why the staff loves Mylo so much, I think it's a pretty silly record. The melodies on "Charlie Brown" are cool though, I guess.

Viva La Vida is good, a 3 or 3,5. Mylo Xyloto is shit, worse than this. Don't go there.

i will give viva la vida at least a couple more spins, then. yeah, the staff reviews kinda had me wanting to skip to that, but i won't now. thanks
