They are incredible live. They walked on stage 5 minutes early. Said "we wanted to spend more time with you guys" played static then said "for the next hour it is 1994" and launched into Gold Soundz. The just radiated class.

I ordered copies of both S&E and Crooked Rain. I listened to S&E first, and I was immediately hooked. Love the raw sound, and there are quite a few incredible tracks. Afterwards I put on Crooked Rain, and it just seemed kind of sterile in comparison.
While I don't think anything on Crooked Rain can touch songs like Trigger Cut, Zurich, and Jackals, it is certainly easier for me to listen from start to end since it doesn't really have any duds.
Nice review. I don't like this sentence though: "Obviously these guys aren't the greatest singer."
