Cygnus....Vismund Cygnus is one of my favorite songs at the moment. I just love it's energy and constant great drumming and guitars. It's a hard song to beat.

the actually proper tracklisting for the original set release was
1.Frances the Mute - 14.40
2.Cygnus vismund Cygnus - 13.08
3 The Widow - 5.57
4.L'via L'Viaquez - 12.27
5.Mirianda That Ghost Just isn't Holy... - 13.09
6.Cassandra Gemini - 32.32
and stood at a mega 91.59 minutes but cd restrictions applied and frances the mute - 14.40 was dropped

They never confirmed that was how the album went.
I mean sure, it makes sense that it would go like that by the FTM single. But Omar and Cedric were never like, hey.. we put this here because of this.
Stop assuming things.
|
| |
I'm pretty sure Omar said that the song was intended to be released apart from the album, as he likened it to "meeting the parents to get to know the child" or something in an issue of GuitarWorld. He also mentioned the logical reasoning as compact discs generally can't fit that much onto it.
So yeah, jt-ocdp is a cretin.

The lyrics for the song Frances the Mute are in the cd case (behind the CD). This probably means the artwork was finished before the realised the track had to be cut, and therefore the track would have been intended for the record. Also, footnotes on the Missing Chromosome EP state the song was intended for the record of the same name. This Message Edited On 05.23.06

The Missing Chromosome EP isn't real.
And whenever the record was announced for release, they announce a Frances the Mute single being released a month afterwards in vinyl form.

I never liked At the Drive In, so I never thought I'd like this. I bought this album today,
though, and I dig it. Great review, by the way.
The rating will probably increase, but I'm not going to get carried away quite yet. This Message Edited On 05.25.06

Anyone else have the Frances the Mute Vinyl? WIth the actual Frances the Mute? I bought it last week and haven't listned to it yet because the record player i use is at my pop's house.
|
| |
I don't know why, but this album just clicked with me. Truly excellent.
|
| |
i read somewhere the song "the widow"'s lyrics are a metaphor for heroin
|
| |
That would make sense.
|
| |
the good thing about mars volta lyrics is their so open to interpretation, but theyre sung with enough emotion to be intentionally about something, but maybe excluding "she was a mink handjob in sarcophagus heels"?

so, i first heard of The Mars Volta when I watched their Televators video. the overall sound and the uniqueness of the video intrigued me and i was hooked. Next, i heard the widow. awesome.
