This band never making it big has worked out great. Only cool people like it.

This is actually in my top 3 of cool bands.

Not sure about the other two yet.

@Egarran Rotten Records pulling all their songs from YouTube definitely helps keep them underground. I don't think that's a good thing, though.

Indeed, it's frustrating - and most likely decreases sales since we can't hype it anywhere.

So you're changing your mind on their obscurity being a good thing?

Obscurity is never a good thing, weird argument... although I’m sure he’s just being tongue-in-cheek about the whole thing, hence the inconsistencies in his responses.

I guess the boring answer is 'it depends'. But yes for me personally I find their obscurity a good thing that adds to their depraved exclusivity.

But also they should be on youtube. Can't I have both, pleeeeease?

the only good thing about their label being extra anal about streaming shit is that it gave me an excuse to get both albums on CD

@Demon Having music videos on YouTube is good publicity. King Crimson would probably be better known if their studio albums were there, though there are plenty of live videos. They have recently changed their mind about streaming, though. Same goes for Tool.

I wasn't disagreeing with that, was stating how publicity can't be a bad thing in general (at least on this likely scale), whereas Egarran seemed to be suggesting it was at one point.

I bought 'When the Kite String Pops' based on a live Youtube vid, best decision I've ever made.

Egarran likes having hipster credentials apparently.

I downloaded both the albums from VK, like I did with Dissociation. Never bought CDs. Copyright isn't a big deal in Russia apparently.

Nah 'depraved exclusivity' sounds better than hipster. But yeah, I am in the elite of musical connoisseurs.
