I still like it but I think Son I Loved You At Your Darkest is their strongest now. My Epic scratches the itch better for that CNS sound imo.

i definitely do not think it sounds like anything else. what do you think it compares to? it's a pretty unique mix of artsy indie rock and post-hardcore. reminds me a ton of classic brand new. and it's packed with so many emotions and wonderfully insightful lyrics.



this is awesome obviously but this to me is stuff i've heard before. pretty standard fun poppy post-hardcore but done well.

My Epic and travesty [2]



This stylistically isn't new at all, it's the intangibles. The songwriting was unique as far as composition, there's melodicism and beauty but also just straight anger. Some of the lyrics are tear-jerking and weighty. The closer here alone is worth the price of admission. This to me is the definition of lightning in a bottle. Theres so much emotion here and you can feel it.



CNS is just that, artsy indie. You get flavors of many bands that came before them in every piece of it. So again you could maybe make the composition argument there too, but it doesn't elicit any sort of response from me. You get Copeland, you get Death Cab, you get lots of that stuff throughout that influenced it. This had juxtaposition of the two styles, CNS is just straight Cody.



Now that we're unpacking, with softer indie stuff for me it has to strike an emotional chord with me or it has no major lasting value. Like I adore Transatlanticism but find much else of Death Cab to be pleasant but whatever. Aaron Marsh has always had the ability to grip me, so they're top to bottom one of my favorite bands ever. There's just a certain something there that's either there or there isn't. And I can't really describe it any other way than emotional connection but it's still... intangible.



Some of Cody's vocal melody choices post this really irk me too. Like musically Empire rips but I can't stand that chorus lol. I don't know. Opinions

The Hoard is amazing though I'll say that. But like you can hear some mewithoutyou, you can hear brand new, colour revolt, showbread, pmtoday with the noodling, maybe even some manc orch, jonezetta too. All those bands had heavy crossover
