this album isn't bad but it is extremely overrated compared to the old radiohead albums.
There are bands nowadays doing better stuff but magazines and mtv don't support them :S...

Never heard Radiohead b4 this, didn't know what to expect. Did not like it, but I might check out one of their earliest classics and see what happens

Dammit, I can't stop listening to this. This really got me by surprise.
I'm still impressed by the simplicity of some of the songs yet there are a lot of things going on (Videotape). The build-up to climax in Bodysnatchers and Jigsaw is gold.
Now to the gem of the album. I can't put into words the feeling I get when all of a sudden the last part of Weird Fishes/Arpeggi sets in. Just the use of sounds there, with the bass/guitar riff and Thom Yorke's lower range vocals, not to mention the recurring polyrythmic guitar arpeggios, is so beautiful. Never thought I might witness such. And the way one can interpretate the abstract lyrics just adds to the emotional value of the song. Probably my favorite Radiohead song and one of their best achievements.
Might have to bump this.

the ending to weird fishes is beautiful, the way the swelling guitar just swallows you

the way they make the guitars sound through effects and their ability to reproduce those sounds live is a big part of it

Because together Greenwood and O'Brian have an amazing ear for melody, some of their transitions and flows in the music work so increadbly well despite being unconventional.

I think this is a 3 now for me. It's still not super and shit like 15 step's HELLO I AM A FUCKING CUNT OF AN ELECTRONIC DRUM BEAT annoys me to no end but Videotape rules and so does Bodysnatchers.
Jigsaw is good as well.
However The Bends rules this.
