can you be atheist and agnostic at the same time?
|
| |
No, an atheist believes in a sure lack of anything of higher power. Agnostics are just unsure.

I meant I'm not overly religious. Angostics believe in a God. Something greater, am i right or am i right?
Err what?
Agnostics believe in nothing they just leave the door open more than Atheists. Although there are different kinds of atheists and atheism is really just strong agnosticism.

I have not heard this album, but I do have the first TDWP album, which is one of my favorite albums.

personally, i hate this band. mainly because i hate pratically all christian metalcore bands, with the exception of As I Lay Dying. it's mainly because i've heard other bands that sound exactly like this over and over. the only difference is that this band is heavier wtih more screamo mixed in. but still, usually i hate those really annoying high pitched vocals used. nice review though. i don't think that your review was too short, since my reviews are also pretty short.

yeah ive listned to these guys before, a lot of hardcore kids around here, claim these guys are "great!" anyway as a guitar player i can honestly say these guys arent very good, few decent guitar riffs here and there but overall not too good.
its funny too how when you tell a christian that a christian metal band sucks the best comeback they can come back with is, "well they are christian atleast!" haha
well check out my band if you want, im not meaning to advertise or anything but just giving you a heads up on my metal band, if you like lamb of god, you will like us! www.myspace.com/utend

I personally enjoyed this album, although i know plenty of people did not. Now yes, the song title thing is a bit ridiculous, but I decided to just get past that.
And also about them being "Christian Metalcore". I see that as a very overused phrase in music nowadays. Once again, i tend to just ignore that label. This Message Edited On 11.16.07This Message Edited On 11.16.07

okay, ive never actually bought Plagues... one of my friends who i got hooked onto TDWP burnt the cd and gave it to me to check it out
i bought their Dear Love... cd and i was super impressed. call me crazy but i seriously heard a newer "old" underoath in the making, beside the point
the point is, is that Plagues completely falls on its face... i was completely disgusted by it.
where i thought TDWP was going to rejuvinate the past-repetitive genre of "metalcore" they only succeeded in abandoning it
Plagues, in my opinion is a complete turn from their metalcore roots and now dabbling with the "scene"ster metal, the likes of Ecape the Fate, DDG, and even Bring me the horizon, and jus for fun ill add a lil norma jean in the mix
everyone tells me that Plagues is some sUper br00tal album where i only see wasted potential...
kudos for doing what they like to do and all but seriously this is scene metal now... ugh

This review was eh...
Not incredibly descriptive, and also repetitious. But I agree with you, this is a substantial improvement over Dear Love

My friend told me that TDWP is the heaviest band he listens to. I laughed, then I call him gay.
But, I like this.

These comments constantly ragging on the band should really stop because they are getting way too redundant and without evidence for their claims. Now I'm going to throw in my two cents because I don't think anyone here properly defended this band. The Devil Wears Prada is a young band and is compromised of young guys. They got their name from the book before it was a movie and gave the name their own meaning once they started using it. Band names are rarely anything ground-breaking anyways. I really don't understand how someone can call this band "generic". I have never heard a band incorporate death-metal high/low screaming with clean singing, breakdowns and synths. They may not have the most amazingly technical songs, but they do have a nice sense of variety in their music. I'd like to see anyone say that "HTML Rulez Dood" and "Don't Dink and Drance" sound exactly the same. Ok, so these guys are christian, but why should that really matter? Their lyrical content is quite more mature than typical girlfriend heartbreak so why complain? Bands sometimes write about drug use and politics and usually those bands aren't ripped apart for that, but once religion is in the picture people get annoyed. "Don't listen to it if you don't like it" is a motto I think quite a few of you need to adopt. There were so many comments disliking this cd and band, but rarely did I witness any sense of good reasoning or explanation. I know their song titles are silly, but at least they're having a good time making music. They do what they enjoy and for that plain fact I think people should give them more credit. I try to listen to bands that make music without thinking about appealing to a certain "scene" and these guys definitely do that. "Plagues" is a solid release for a young band and I look forward to their upcoming releases.
