Yeah I just posted that in the forum, SoP said mx might have changed it when he featured the album. I think I'll edit his edit ever so slightly, aka fix the typo and add a period.

After listening to this album again, I have dropped my rating simply because of how boring this album is.
ToWhatEnd,
You say that this album is a twist on the old sound and I certainly can't see this. Sure there are a few thrashier parts and more solos, but the majority of this album falls under recycled riffs and recycled drumming. I used to listen to plenty of metalcore about 3 years ago, and it just became stagnant because of the typical formula that a majority of these albums can't seem to break away from. This album is no exception! But your review was well written and your opinion is respected by me on the matter. Just thought I would throw in my two cents.

I think metalcore was doomed from it's inception. I can't really see the metalcore's general "sound" changing without a significant mix with another genre.
I'd go with Riders of the Plague for album of the year. But then there's so many other good ones. Tough call.

ZooYorker6,
You really love that album hahahahaha! I think I will check it out one day. Neurosis's 'Given to the Rising' easily holds down album of the year so far!

This is a surprisingly good release. Forsaken and Comfort Betrays are crushing.

No.
Symphony X's album completely destructifies Systematic Chaos. And, besides the first track, Messengers blew.
Hence I said "IMHO." I love Messengers, its one of my favorite albums as of late. But I listen to more metalcore than most people on this site as I can gather... so that's just me. But I'm also a bit of a DT fan boy and a big prog nerd... though I never could get into Symphony X that much.

It's a shame Colors doesn't have the random breaks where everything stops playing and then theres a twisted lead fillThis Message Edited On 08.23.07

Personally, I give this album a full 5/5 rating. I listened to it on repeat from the first note to the last three times yesterday before even pausing the music once. There's not a single song on here that needs skipping, even counting the two instrumentals - the quality of this disc is beyond scrutiny.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say that AILD has raised the bar so high for their next recording that I'm almost afraid to see if they can match it. This album is unquestionably a contender for album of the year.
There's not a band on earth that I adore more than Opeth, but I can honestly say that this release is on par with any of theirs, despite the massive stylistic differences. I'm utterly blown away by this disc. AILD just found themselves catapulted to the top of my favorite bands list. This Message Edited On 08.23.07This Message Edited On 08.23.07
