I had a similar reaction. I gave it a 4 but couldn't justify it.
Second listen, I just let the music take me and it really started to click. There are a lot of intricacies you pick up on over time.

It's kind of like that and early metalcore bands in the sense that riffs are chaotic, change constantly, and have a lot of things happening beneath them.
