On the other hand, they played two new songs, and if the rest of the album is half as good as them, then the new album is going to shred this one to pieces. This album really isn't that great though. The songwriting kind of sucks.

^^^You should review The Monolith Deathcult, amazing album.
Yeah its great, but I don't think I'll review it.
Btw, if you like them I suggest checking out Septic Flesh.

Really? I've never heard any band make tech. death metal this listenable. Are we talking about the same band?
The only really blatant flaw I see in this album is the lack of "album flow"... it pretty much sounds like they just threw all their songs on a record. Which makes sense, seeing as its a debut.

I feel like this about the riffs in each individual song. Most of them are good riffs, they're just arranged in a really stupid way for the most part.
And the keyboards are just dumb. This Message Edited On 03.18.08

Ya the songwriting is above average for their genre.

Oh, of course. The Faceless is way ahead of all the other bands they get placed with. And what amazes me is that this is their first album. I'm so stoked for the new release this year!

Yeah, i'm really anticipating it. I just hope the new vocalist will be really good. Rydquist is phenomenal. I hope they can get him back when he finishes what he's doing in College or whatever.
Leica is the shit.

I want to rate this album higher, but i've seen them live twice and they don't pull off their technicality half as well as they do on the CD. It makes them seem very fake and polished.

If you've seen them recently, don't base to much of your opinion on that... they've had A LOT of line-up changes, so that sort of thing is bound to happen. I've seen them 5 times with 4 different drummers over the course of about a year and a half.

They killed both times I saw them. Not perfect, but tight.

Yeah, I know it's quite un-kosher to base a rating on a live performance, but after seeing them it significantly lowered my respect for the band.
But aside from that, I was very impressed when I first heard this album, however each subsequent listen has been less and less satisfying.

I don't listen to it often, so when I do I'm still blown away. The beginning of Ghost of a Stranger will be stuck in my head eternally, along with the breakdown in An Autopsy (SEVER THE....SKULLLLLLLLLLL *breakdown starts* His mind lies in peace *breakdown continues*
FREEEEEEEE.... from the torment of existance *breakdown ends*
pure win.
