Don't some/most people stop listening to metal when they grow older though.

I went from 50% metal as a 17 year old to about 5% by the age of 23, which is about where it's stayed.

I know a lot of people who consider it deeply embarrassing for someone to listen to metal beyond their teenage years but I'm more live and let live about it...but I'd never go back to listening to metal as much as I did before

It's increased for me as I've got older. I appreciate it a lot more and it plugs a gap. Some of it really is absolutely top notch.

Same, I didn't really listen to much Metal when I was a teen, and I guess I don't listen to it all that much now since it doesn't show on my pie chart. Been listening to a lot of entry level stuff recently.

the thing is that metal can mean very different things, from the spastic math of the dillinger escape plan, to the epic sludgy crescendos of neurosis, to the relentless fury of black metal such as deathspell omega, to the fairy gayness of power metal

Anyone got good country recs? Like, TVZ-esque country? I keep telling myself it can't all be that bad, but regardless of how many girls I'm around who listen to it nonstop it's appearing more and more like a barren fucking wasteland of a genre.
