No shade to the person I quoted, but I do find the whole concept of "selling out" while making music in this particular genre to be particularly hilarious.
"Yeah bro, that brutal death metal band where they scream and growl esoteric lyrics to a bunch of sweaty dudes in tiny venues totally sold out because their label spent $500 dollar on an online marketing campaign for them"
