I like how the female vocal part on G sounds straight off of Tyler The Creator’s Boy Is a Gun or some shit.

Death has been creeping up my list. Honestly might be my favorite behind Cosmic. Those orchestral bits paired with that guitar lead sound sinister asf.

Don't even think the vocals on here are *that* bad. The Stage can become pretty grating though. Definitely not perfect but there's a ton of character in the vocals on this, which I'd personally take over boring ass pitch perfect singing.

The vocals here are better than The Stage for sure imo. The bigger problem (on both albums) is just the shitty mix imo

Tbh the mix here has character. It feels more distinctly them as opposed to a completely overproduced thing.

There's an interview with Shadows were he says the mixing was intentional and they wanted to go down a more natural route without using samples on drums etc (I'm pretty sure there are samples used here though, definitely were on The Stage)
Agree this has more character, I dig it tbh

fucking casual background music listeners are brainwashed by modern quantized, lifeless productions to attack anything that sounds even remotely like a human worked on it. its a sad state of affairs, really. as i understand it Avenged Sevenfold were always about naturalistic sounding performances and production.

IDK the frequency gap between the guitars and bass really hurts this imo, the guitars are a pushed too much towards higher frequencies and it makes it a little bit fatiguing to listen too. Obviously it's not that big of a deal or I wouldn't have this as a 5 but the mix/production could have 100% been better and parts of the album would hit so much harder with a better mix.

just turn the stereo up lol

I'll excuse my gripes with the mix because on the other hand the mastering is much better than what current pop/rock/metal artists typically have (could've treated Cosmic a bit better tho, guess somebody feared the ballad wouldn't have been "competitive" or something) and on top of that the music musics ahrd
