i respect misha a ton, really creative dude. all those bulb demos were so cool to me and how many turned into periphery songs. so many of them and so many good riffs. crazy how he still works them in.

did you ever check out his latest independent releases? they're all just remasters of his old demos and they just go all over the place

This is the album they nailed their formula, for better or worse. Every song on this album is incredible. Price and Motormouth slap majorly, and extremely great melodic and songwriting all throughout. It felt fresh on this album, but on proceeding albums IV and V, diminishing returns factor hurts those albums a lot. Reptile is a rare outlier from their modern formula, not the rule. It's a masterpiece among the mostly okay album PIV.

hmmm i think there's def a divide for this band between p1/p2 and juggernaut-present.

on the former the majority of the songs are fleshed out bulb demos and really just misha driving the ship without a lot of thought for the vocals. starting with jugg they began toning down the technicality and making spencer the focal point.

really the shift was the kinda forgotten clear ep where each member wrote their own song

yeah that sounds about right. juggernaut omega especially isn't far off p2. and there are still songs off the newer stuff that have bulb riffs in them. misha is the biggest reason why i love those two albums, really creative songwriter and riff writer.

guess it really makes sense why i checked out. hope i dig the next two compared to this!
