I wouldn't consider anything from here "their best material". There are good songs, but they don't come close to what they've done on some of the previous albums.

Basically yes.
What they should do now is finish the tour for this album and take a little break ...during which they release the record most want to hear so we can also finally hear Chi on bass one last time.

I pronounce it deft ones just for fun.
But every time I see the name I just think of Deaf Tones, which is a pretty cool name.

They have to make a DVD. I'd buy the shit out of that.

"When this album plays to their strengths, it's some of their best material. When it doesn't, it reeeeeealy doesn't."

They do riff well, but the mellow parts do nothing.

So I guess I'm not crazy for thinking the production on this album is atrocious?

Hearts/Wires has become one of my favorite 'tones songs recently. I wish the rest of the album was more like it.

Been listening to Xenon a LOT this week.

Album dropped and rose again for me. It's a solid 4, though.

Also, this is NOT Deftones' most technical album. Like, wtf? How?

It's got some pretty technical riffs though. Pittura infamante, while not my favorite has some technical riffs in it. The title track is kind of Messhugah esque and has some slick high hat work in the verses. Glad you like Xenon though jiggly

Pittura Infamante's pretty cool. It was the one that stuck out the most when I first listened to the record.

The looping in the background during Xenon is pretty af.

What would you consider their most technical record then?

On a technical level, it's a tie between Diamond Eyes and this one.
