The way I feel about it is that Fourth of July is the best track in the context of the album, but No Shade In The Shadow Of The Cross is the best stand alone song.

What's the point of singing songs / if they'll never even hear you?

he's done much better with the stripped down sound, with lots of cuts from seven swans being the biggest evidence

This in no ways grows off unless you stop having an affinity for lyrics/emotion/heart

Music is top notch as well, very concise, full of great melodies, only thing I can find someone could nitpick is the lack of variety but the reflective somber tone is what the whole album is going for and it nails it.

If this broke off on a musical tangent it would ruin everything. It's perfect as is.
