Probably because it has metal tendencies and he's 'above' all that now.

Love a lot of his music but he isn't half an arrogant snob at times haha.

Did anyone else see that article where Wilson was talking a bunch of shit on Eddie Van Halen after he died, what an absolute bellend lmao

On a more positive note, God damn I always forget how hard Gavin Harrison goes on later PT albums, such an underrated drummer

I wouldn't call him underrated I mean he plays with King Crimson these days. But yeah he is one of the best in the prog business right now. He shines on PTs live albums even more

"The riffs on Shallow slam too, but Wilson apparently hates to song"

If I remember correctly, Steven has stated pretty openly that it's because it's PT's "big dumb rock song." It's only been performed a handful of times and I believe he wanted a different song to replace it on the final release of Deadwing

Is Gavin Harrison underrated? I think he is quite highly regarded! That fill 31 seconds in on Shesmovedon is :o :o :o

Harrison's definitely not underrated. Any prog poll for the best modern drummers usually has him in the top 5 somewhere, often right up there with Danny Carey

@Divergent Showing his pretentious attitude there I see.

Not everything has to be 'deep' and 'meaningful' Steve, haha.

Yeah, tbh PT (as much as I enjoy them) have always been on the more simplistic side of prog music, so I don't know why he's all uptight about including something like Shallow. It took me roughly ten minutes to learn something like Open Car on guitar, lol

Huh I guess I'm not as plugged-in to the drumming community as I though I was! Glad to know he gets his props, imo he was pretty much carrying the band by FoaBP

Gavin is amazing and highly regarded, ye.

Nil Recurring is one of his best performances, so good.

Wasn't that Chris Maitland drumming on Lightbulb Sun, though?

@Kompys the double bass segment where everything goes chaotic, so damn good.

@porc Well I guess I know why I'm finding their pre-Absentia albums kinda underwhelming then lol

Stupid Dream is their best album though :[

I thought stupid dream was alright, it was just way more pop than I was expecting and that put me off it a bit. I suspect it'll grow on me soon enough.
