This is just a gritty ball of emotion whil Lateralus is some fucking golden, insane moments wrapped in boring and meandering wankery

It's still a 4 tho

As far as I know it's about L Ron Hubbard (founder of Scientology). It would seem rather odd to me if it was about Hicks, given how spiteful most of its lyrics are

These guys chose to have a concert in Hamilton, Ontario instead of Toronto this year. I live near the arena they had the concert, and the entire downtown core was flooded with Tool fans for like two straight blocks up to the venue. All mid-20s to mid-30s wearing their black Tool t-shirts. Quite a sight to behold.

Nah it's not spiteful imo. I think they're just throwing Hicks' cynicism right back at him as a tribute. It's a eulogy he would have appreciated.

Just got back from seeing these guys and it was pretty sweet. Third Eye live was a transcendental experience.

No :-( it was mostly their more popular songs - Schism, The Grudge, Parabola, Stinkfist, Vicarious etc

Third Eye was a real treat though and they played some songs from Opiate too which was cool. Nothing from Undertow, though, strangely

Overall a good show though Maynard was screwing up right and left. He's very clearly the weak point in the band at this point in their career.

Just dropping out in some parts, forgetting lyrics and melodies, singing off-key, overusing filters and other effects. It was sloppy. Sad because the rest of the band were on-point the whole time.

Makes me not quite as stoked to see them next week, but oh well. It'll still be one to cross off the list.

Ocean, did you see them at the Bell Centre too?

I really liked the show, the visuals were incredible

Cool, seems like a few of us were at that show last night. Saw MO there as well during the (kind of shitty) opening act

Tool put on a great show. I think ocean is being a little harsh on Maynard there too. His performance wasn't perfect but I thought he sounded great overall. He did this weird thing where he was dressed all in black and stayed in a shadowy part of the stage all night so you could barely see him though

Yea RunOfTheMill I saw them at the Bell Centre. And yeah the visuals ruled for sure. I found it funny when they had to rewind the videos because the band were taking too long to get through the songs lol

And yeah I don't mean to suggest that Maynard ruined the show. It was still overall really good. But I just found his performance was less disciplined and precise than the rest of the band. And yeah SCREAM he's always been reclusive during performances - I saw APC several years ago and he did the exact same thing.
