this band is much better live than on record. i tend to get lost in their recordings after i've heard them a few times, which is kind of nice, but i feel like their albums don't stay grounded enough to really cement the experience of the songwriting. i still like their albums, but in person the songs are way more moving. this is true of almost all bands, but for these guys in particular there is a lot of power lost in translation on record i think.

i've seen them somewhere upwards of 5 times, and they were pretty phenomenal almost every time. i've definitely talked about this before, but at the risk of repeating myself, the first time i saw them was back in 2010 and i was completely floored by how intense george was. it was actually kind of unnerving how hard he was screaming, hard to watch in the best possible way. he's not nearly as unsettling as he used to be, but still really engaging.
