Close between this and Paranoid though

there's no such thing as a 4 rating "best sabbath"

Either this or Paranoid is a 4.5, but I’m not sure which. 4=love on my rating scale.

So much great interplay between Iommi and Geezer on this one. Great engineering and mix as well
Honestly I can't fully listen to half the songs on Paranoid because they've been overplayed. Debut, MOR, and this, at the very least, top it for me tbh. But they're all still pretty close really

^I agree. Same case with Led Zeppelin for me, I cant listen to LZ 4 as much these days cause ive heard every song on it at least 500 times at this point lmao

Rulesssss. The piano playing on Sabbra Cadabra is SO good. Apt that they got Wakemen for their prog album
there's no such thing as a 4 rating "best sabbath" [2]
Come on death wtf

When the riff for A National Acrobat kicks in I feel like smoking the fattest joint in the world
That shit is dope!

Sabbath's crowning achievement imo.
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, A National Acrobat, Sabbra Cadabra, Killing Yourself to Live, Who are You?, Looking for Today and Spiral Architect are all classics and their best collection of songs. Fluff only filler but still a cool acoustic instrumental

You're right except the debut was their crowning achievement

>Fluff only filler
heh

Yeah maybe crowning achievement is the wrong description because debut clearly is. SBS is their best work imo.
>Fluff and filler didn't go over my head when writing ha

I do think that the "little interludes" as I call them give strength to the songs, almost like cleansing your palette between courses at a high end dinner

this is excellent but sabotage is better imo

"I do think that the "little interludes" as I call them give strength to the songs, almost like cleansing your palette between courses at a high end dinner"
Orchid and Embryo are beautiful melodies. Fluff is cool, but it is way too long to be considered an interlude

I can buy that, those never bothered me though, even fluff,
good juxtaposition to the rest of the music

my problem with Fluff isn't its length or the soft melodies which are really pretty. It is the fact that it is the same chord for more than four minutes
I love soft Sabbath but if you want to make it four minutes, you need to throw in some more chords lol

The problem is it's trying too much to imitate others of the time, Zeppelin in particular with the prog and somewhat mellow psych influences. The majority of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath really does sound like LZ offcuts, and even if parts are perfectly competent it's just not what they do best.

Fav Sabbath. Jammed again today and the songs are stronger start to finish than any other. Love the first 6 albums but this is exceptional. I do dig the proggier side
