Just bumped this down from a 4.5 to a 4. Still love this album, but for Opeth's standards, i have to admit that it comes up a bit short. Plus, i felt weird having this at the same rating as Still Life.
It doesn't help that the best track on here could easily be mistaken for a simple intro track; as far as quality material on here is concerned, this might as well be an EP. Burden pretty much suffers from the same flaws that plague Dream Theater's entire discography, and the last 2 tracks - while still pretty damn good - aren't exactly the most memorable songs in Opeth's discography.

Solid album. Going to give this a spin in the next few days. Heir Apparent and Hessian Peel were the highlights as far as I remember. Will see if that's changed or not.
If Opeth releases an album this year, I hope that Åkerfeldt hasn't further decreased the use of harsh vocals.
