Yeah, I can echo their sentiment as well, Smash. I got into Converge because of You Fail Me and never really got the hype fro Jane Doe until years later. It's my second favorite now for sure.

I think it depends what you're used to as well. This was the harshest, most extreme music I'd ever heard (at the time), so it was a bit of a shock. Admittedly I got Calculating Infinity at a similar point in my life & that took even longer. Having said that I do think it still stands up as being a bit on the extreme side, yeah it's not the most brutal thing in existence but it wouldn't be ridiculous to suggest certain highly rated Death Metal albums are similar in their intensity. To me, if you can at least tolerate (or hopefully appreciate) Bannon's vocals in particular, then the world is your oyster.
