I listened to this album when it came out. I've listened to it since once a year at least since and I just tried it out again now. I know this won't a popular opinion on this site but I still feel like it's one of the most over-rated albums on here. It's strange to me because this is my favorite style of music.

It's good don't get me wrong and I love music that pushes genres forward but Converge just don't do it for me for some reason...

What don't you like about it? For me it was pretty much instant love but I know for a lot of people it takes a long time to fully appreciate it

This grew pretty hard over the course of a month and now it's one of my favorite albums ever

So apparently I'm seeing these guys live in May now because for some reason they chose them to replace Modern Baseball at Boston Calling lol.
Side note, I've never been able to get into these guys, but havn't really tried too hard as its not really my style

Jesterhead: I actually really like it. I most likely just went into it with the wrong mindset and came out the other end wondering more why it's lauded as a masterpiece so much as opposed to wondering why I only just really liked it instead of LOVE it. I hope that makes sense.

I do my best to keep giving the album chances since the early 2000s but I still feel the same. I finally settled on a 3/5 for the listen I did right before commenting. Would probably be a 3.5-4 though if I wasn't trying to listen to it for a specific reason.

Thanks for coming at me like a gentlemen. I don't usually get the same courtesy why I talk about Jane Doe the way I do lol.

Thats fair enough, good on you for continuing to give it a shot. Took me a few months to really get into but now i'm on the verge of 5ing it. One of the most cathartic listens out there for me

Asleep: I usually love albums like this from the get go which is why I'm always giving it more shots. I mean...come on...it's like all of the music styles I like most bashed into one. Who knows maybe one day it will click with me.

FullOfSounds: Thanks man. This site is far more friendly than I remember it being when I was a regular back in the day. What's the next Converge album you recommend I listen to? (I'm very familiar with Jane Doe and No Heroes)

If you listen to YFM, you gotta listen to the Redux. Much better than the original. I'd recommend Axe to Fall

@alien thats what I was thinking. Modern Baseball and Converge are not similair at all.
@FullofSounds I hope their scheme works! I'm definitely gunna see them
@Art I like Modern Baseball, but I've already seen em a few times so I'm definitely not complaining

No problem theRoodieDoodz. It might be different if some douche came in and was like this band is shit why do people like this garbage but since you're not like that it's not a crime lol. It's great when people are willing to converse about it rather than fling insults.

I agree that Axe to Fall is probably the easiest to get into and was actually my first. It's super punk and wild with crazy guitar leads and a lot of guest spots, like a huge demented party haha. All We Love We Leave Behind is also great, especially the deluxe version with the bonus tracks. They play up the Entombed worship a lot but it works super well for them. You Fail Me is on the more mathy side and is probably the band's darkest album but it's close to my favorite.
