the biggest issue with making songs this fucking long is that if half the song sucks than the whole track is a dud. There’s parts of the worst songs here that I love and there’s parts that should’ve been trimmed entirely. If Pneuma and Invincible were each like 4-6 mins shorter it would be an immediate improvement imo
Descending might straight up be my favorite Tool song ever, Pneuma might legit be my most hated one

Speaking of Schism, ran across a YT video where TOOL allowed the encore to be recorded (even though Maynard told the audience he'd personally shit in the mouths of anyone who had a flash or camera light on) and right before the final instrumental break, they actually do this sort of thrashy version of the break for about 30 seconds before reverting to the album version. But that random fast interlude was dope as fuck. Jones is playing in triplets or something along with Chancellor's bass.
