this is one of those albums that's really good for those that are fans of hardcore, punk, or metal(core)....but I'm sure the majority of the world won't/don't like this
shouldn't force people to at least 2 albums like this. universally perfect albums like A Love Supreme etc should be the only ones that should have regulated ratings. this is more of a niche classic

I don't agree with their ratings lock but your reasoning doesn't really apply to something with subjective enjoyment, like music, imo

rating music always has a splash of objectivity though. I know there are actually people out there that think Etienne Sin for example is good, but my guess is they're in the tiny minority. some albums are just objectively better than others. some are way better. where a website like sputnik comes in and allows us to rank albums across a continuum, there have to be some albums are just...unfuckwithable lol
like aquemini - outkast and symbolic - death are two of my fav albums, but I'd be fine with someone 1'ing them...a supreme love though? nah that's an injustice to all of music

because its musicianship, songwriting ability, impact and popularity are too high to allow such a rating
there's an accessibility factor too, but i can't quite explain it

I kind of used to be that. Thing is everything's subjective, it's just the standards in our minds that try to make things objective
That's why even if something is loved by a lot of people we can still fall behind "well objectively" to try and pretend like we have a point, when it's really just subjectivity
