Amethyst is my current favourite track in my first few playthroughs. I’m really happy with the amount of actual classic and second wave BM influence there is. Doberman is another standout. I honestly feel like so far the worst part about the album is the cover, but Deafheaven has never been about being conventional.

Ghost Bath is better than Deafheaven but Ghost Bath has no song even half as good as Helenahappa.
Damian has most of the best blackgaze songs TBH. something in the distance, i can't say goodbye, i want to be with you, illembraced, i follow rivers, hope you never forget, just masterpiece after masterpiece and Deafheaven, like I dunno, every time I listen to Deafheaven I'm like "why aren't I listening to better artists in this style? where's the passion? heart? emotion? creativity?" it's just paint by numbers. Hell I'd rather listen to Show Me a Dinosaur.
last time I listened to Deafheaven spotify autoplayed a Lantlos song off .neon and it took me until the vocals came in before I realized that it wasn't Deafheaven because they just straight plagiarized that sound, they didn't even change it a little bit.
